BOXING S APPEAL
In a
recent issue of Street & Smith s SPORTS BUSINESS Journal the
results of an ESPN Sports Poll entitled, Avid Fans
Comparison was published. In this particular poll, people
identifying themselves as avid fans of a particular sport
are asked whether they are also avid fans of other sports.
The results are intriguing:

Of those who considered themselves avid NFL fans, 56.3% also
considered themselves avid fans of Pro Boxing. The 56.3%
scored by Pro Boxing was higher than the scores received by
Major League Baseball (55.1%), College Basketball (54.8%)
and Pro Golf (54.8%). College Football (65.3%) and the NBA
(61.0%) scored the highest.

Of those who considered themselves avid NBA fans, 41.7% also
considered themselves avid Pro Boxing fans-higher than the
percentage received by any other sport. College Basketball
was second-highest (41.2%), followed by Pro Tennis (38.5%),
the NFL (33%) and MLS (32.9%).

Of those who considered themselves avid College Basketball
fans, 48.3% also considered themselves avid Pro Boxing fans.
The 48.3% scored by Pro Boxing was higher than the scores
received by Pro Tennis (48.0%), MLB (46.9%) and the NFL
(46.4%). College Football scored highest (59.3%), followed
by Pro Golf (52.5%) and the NBA (51.8%).
